Really been bugging me. I watched this figure skating match on tv back in probably the mid 90s. It wasn't the Olympics but it was still an important match. Either to get into the Olympics or get into the match to determine if you made it into the Olympics. Nationals, sub nationals...I don't know a thing about figure skating, I'll be honest. It was a couples competition and this one pair did a fantastic job. It was revealed later however that the girl got injured during the performance. Apparently during this move where the guy lifted her over his head and she did the splits something got pulled or injured. They showed several playbacks of this move. It was apparent to me that they kept on doing these playbacks as they were delaying showing the pair (getting their scores I imagine) because the girl was not quite ready to be seen. I think there was even a commercial break (never has figure skating been so suspenseful!). They eventually showed the pair and you could tell the girl was really really trying to keep herself composed. Their scores were awesome and right at the top or near. I tuned in later and they had won second. Hurray! What really struck me as amazing was how this girl was injured during the performance and she was able to carry on to the point where the announcers didn't notice until after they were finished. I was impressed.
I'm trying to figure out the name of this pair to track how the rest of their career went. They had guts, I expect good things. The only other clues I can offer is it would have been on a Canadian or USA channel and I'm pretty sure they were wearing purple.
